When I realized my future might be in design...
I wouldn't say there was one specific time or event that caused me to realize I might have a future in design. By the beginning of my freshmen year in high school I had pretty much determined that I would end up being a graphic designer. Ever since I was little, I had a passion for visual design. I drew maps, I made my birthday party invitations, I created made-up restaurant menus for family dinner... you name it. I loved making things look good. Always. When I was about fifteen, enough people had been commenting on my "eye for good design" that I had become sure that it was just where my life would lead me. I never questioned it. I never had to "figure out what I wanted to do". I just knew -- and it felt awesome. When I was applying to colleges, I knew what to look for. When I had to declare my major, I never had to struggle with the "exploration phase" that most of my friends know all to well. I was lucky. I am lucky! I love what I do and I love that I love it! It's an awesome feeling to know exactly what I want, and what I enjoy. Toward the end of high school, I started to become really intrigued in magazine layout and design. I was obsessed with everything about my favorite magazines -- Elle, Vogue, Cosmo, InStyle. It was then that I decided to set my "dream big" goal -- to someday work for one of those magazines on the creative team, hopefully as Creative Director. Ever since then, I've been determined to get myself there and won't let anything stand in my way.
Stay tuned and hopefully you'll see me do it!
